THE ruling party Zanu PF is leaving no stone unturned in its quest to reclaim a Ward 12 council seat in Mangwe District, Matabeleland South Province.

The council seat fell vacant following the death of an opposition councillor in August.

For the last 20 years, the council seat has been in the hands of the opposition, something that Matabeleland South Zanu Pf Youth League chairman Cde Moses Langa described as a political ‘anomaly’ that he said the ruling party is going all out to change.

Cde Benjamin Ndlovu is the ruling party candidate in the 25 October by-elections.

The Matabeleland South Youth League has been on a whirl wins campaign trail in the area garnering support for its candidate.

Last weekend, the team led by Cde Langa, youth provincial commissar Cde Lance Phiri, several executive members and party main wing provincial commissar Cde Washington Nkomo hosted a sports tournament in the area.

“We are confident of reclaiming Ward 12 from the opposition and we have deployed our teams as the provincial youth league to take our campaign message to every villager’s doorstep. Zanu Pf is the only party that will bring meaningful development to the villagers of Ward 12 in Mangwe and the rest of the country so our message to the electorate is to vote for the ruling party,” said Cde Langa.

Zanu Pf Deputy Secretary For Youth Affairs Hon John Paradza last week also joined the campaign trail in support of the ruling party candidate Cde Ndlovu where he emphasised the need for purpose of unity for the party to win the by election.
