ZANU-PF Harare province is focusing on strengthening its organisational structures and has made significant strides in overcoming its traditional reputation as an opposition stronghold, the party’s provincial Political Commissar Cde Voyage Dambuza has confirmed.
In an interview, Cde Dambuza noted the party’s inroads in the metropolitan province, emphasising its efforts to diminish opposition influence.
“We have won all the by-elections undertaken, increasing our representation at the parliamentary level and the number of councillors,” he stated.
Additionally, the province achieved victories in by-elections in Glenview South, Mt Pleasant, Harare East and other local authority seats.
“All the by-elections that the party undertook, we won all of them. Now we have increased our representation at the parliamentary level, the number of our councillors has also increased,” he stated.
He highlighted the inflow of former opposition members joining the party through the Dzokai Kumusha Home Ekhaya programme.
“We have seen a massive return of members from the opposition. There has been an influx of members from the opposition, who have been joining the party through the Dzokai Kumusha Home Ekhaya programme,” he noted.
“We have seen massive numbers returning to the party from the opposition. We are looking at approximately 50,000 members from the opposition who have joined Zanu PF during the course of 2025 in Harare,” he noted.
The revolutionary party, Cde Dambuza said, has successfully attracted a sizeable number of participants, including first-time voters, during inter-district meetings held across all six zones.
“Our mobilisation efforts have been highly effective, as evidenced by good attendance at our meetings in the six administrative districts of Harare from zone one to six,” he said.
During the inter-district meetings held in all six zones, Zanu PF managed to attract a sizeable number of people, including the first-time voters.
“We have seen that our mobilisation has been very good when we hold our successful inter-district meetings across the six administrative districts that we have in Harare, where we had very good numbers in terms of attendees,” he said.
He confirmed that the biggest highlight for the year 2025 is Resolution Number One, which the province unanimously agreed with, that President Mnangagwa remain beyond 2028, so that he can realise, achieve and see through Vision 2030.
