ZANU PF’s secretary for Mines and Energy for Harare Province and chairperson for Sports and Recreation, Cde Tarusenga Mushininga, will this weekend lead the party’s Provincial Youth League in hosting the Presidential Ball Games, an event dedicated to fighting drug and substance abuse among young people.

The tournament, set for Saturday August 23, at Lewisam Primary School in Chisipite, will run from 8 am to 6 pm under the theme: “Say No to Drug Abuse.”

“This Presidential Ball Games initiative is meant to provide opportunities for the youth so that they focus more on education and sports, and stay away from drugs,” he said.

“We will continue fighting against drugs and substances together with the police and other Government officials.”

The games will feature netball competitions, drawing teams from Zone 1 through Zone 6, in a bid to encourage discipline, healthy lifestyles, and empowerment through sport.

Speaking ahead of the event, the organisers stressed that sport remains a vital tool for uniting communities and keeping the youth away from drugs and harmful activities.
