Zanu-PF Mashonaland West Province will this year host a business symposium in conjunction with members of the business community as it aims to improve employment opportunities for youths.
Youths in Mhondoro-Ngezi and Muzvezve constituencies allege that some companies in the province were not recruiting from local communities.
In an interview recently, zanu-pf provincial youth chairman Cde Vengai Musengi said the leadership would host the business meeting for both the private and public sector.
The meeting, he said, would help youths navigate the competitive job market.
“I understand a number of youths are concerned about the job requirements of various organisations and companies in our constituencies,” said Cde Musengi.
A number of youths have raised concern over unemployment and are worried that big companies like Zimplats were not employing them, but instead employing from outside Mhondoro.
“This year, we will host a business meeting where we will invite the business community, mine and company owners so that they make presentations on their requirements,” Cde Musengi said.
He said youth empowerment through employment creation was important in economic development and crime reduction.
“We are convinced that if our youths are empowered through creation of employment, it will assist in developing the economy and reduce criminal activities,” he said.
“If companies come out clear to our communities on what is required, our people, especially in the rural areas, will work towards getting the right qualifications.”
President Mnangagwa has set job creation as one of his main priorities.
