THE Zanu PF Annual National People’s Conference will be hosted at Mutare Polytechnic, with the business exhibition taking place at Mutare Sports Club and the main event at the Pavilion Grounds.
The conference is scheduled to run from October 13 to 18, 2025.
Zanu PF Manicaland Provincial chairman, Cde Tawanda Mukodza, addressed the Provincial Coordinating Committee (PCC) meeting yesterday, and said preparations for the national conference were a collective responsibility between the party and Government arms.
He revealed that over US$260 000 and 160 beasts, several goats, pigs and tonnes of grain had already been donated by cadres from Manicaland during the recent PCC and Central Committee meetings for the successful hosting of the conference.
Cde Mukodza urged those who pledged to honour their commitments to enable the party to deliver a seamless event.
“We had recommended two districts – Nyanga and Zimunya-Marange but the party leadership has resolved to host the conference at Mutare Polytechnic, where there are two venues.
“The business exhibition will be held at Mutare Sports Club and the main event at the Pavilion.
“The basics are already in place and we can host the conference as Manicaland. What we now need is to set up a committee that will follow up on the donations. We have many people who donated in cash and kind, and the money should be paid into the party’s national account,” he said.
Cde Mukodza said each beast was valued at US$500, and all pledges should be paid by August 15.
About 10 committees – documentation and legal, organisation, finance, security and accreditation, information, transport and social welfare, health, entertainment, environment and science and technology – have been set up to organise the conference.
These committees will work closely with those responsible for organising State functions.
A walkathon from Harare to Manicaland is also planned.
All delegates attending the conference will undergo mandatory Covid-19 testing.
Minister of State for Manicaland Provincial Affairs and Devolution, Advocate Misheck Mugadza, noted that the Sanganai World Tourism Expo, scheduled for September 9 to 11, would serve as a precursor to the conference.
He emphasised that both events should present business opportunities to the people of Manicaland.
Zanu PF Secretary for Legal Affairs, Cde Patrick Chinamasa, said the preliminary pledges showed that people of Manicaland were now empowered and should be grateful to Zanu PF and the Government.
Cde Chinamasa also congratulated Cde Dorothy Mabika on her recent election as the substantive provincial chairlady of the Women’s League.
He urged the party’s leagues to follow the constitution and conduct elections to avoid problems that have been bedevilling the women’s league in the province.
He also encouraged Cde Mabika to unite the Women’s League in the province.
Cde Chinamasa also emphasised the importance of showcasing Manicaland’s hospitality during the conference.
