front. He was addressing hundreds of party supporters in Mudzi after a twoday restructuring exercise in the district.
“If President Mugabe can take his children to vote, what stops other Politburo and Central Committee members to do the same?”
“Other members from the Presidium, Politburo and Central Committee members should emulate President Mugabe by taking their children, daughters-in-law and sons-in-law to vote because if they don’t do it who do they expect to vote for them. If you don’t take your children to vote whose children do you expect to vote for you to be minister?”
He said people were complaining that the leadership was not taking their children to vote for the party. Cde Kaukonde said it was important for party leaders to make sure they discipline their children so that they can follow values and principles of Zanu-PF. Addressing the same gathering, Youth league national secretary for Security Cde John Mushayi urged the leadership to lead by example.
He urged the youths to shun violence. Cde Mushayi said a disciplined youth did not engage in violence.
Provincial political commissar, Cde Tendai Makunde said the party support base was strong.
“We have gone through the province and we are generally happy with the structures on the ground.
“We are however, under no illusion that there is still some work that needs to be done to make sure we reclaim the province for good,” Cde Makunde said.
