ZANU PF Tsholotsho South legislator Cde Zenzo Sibanda has died from a Covid-19-related illness at United Bulawayo Hospital, where he had been admitted over the weekend.
He was 50.
Cde Sibanda was reportedly on oxygen since the time of his admission.
Matabeleland North Minister of State for Provincial Affairs and Devolution, who is also ZANU PF provincial chairperson, Cde Richard Moyo, has confirmed the legislator’s demise.
“It’s true! We have lost Cde Zenzo Sibanda. He died at United Bulawayo Hospitals (UBH) where he had been admitted over the weekend after falling ill,” Cde Moyo said.
He said the party has lost a true patriot who worked tirelessly for people in his constituency.
“He was a hardworking MP. He loved his people and worked very hard for his constituency to develop. As Matabeleland North MPs and ZANU PF leadership, we have lost one of our own. We want to send our condolences to the Sibanda family and say we are together with the family in this dark hour.
“He was a Central Committee member who worked for the party. He will be sadly missed in Matabeleland North province.”
Sibanda was a district chairperson in 1990 and became the provincial secretary for administration in Matabeleland North province in 2008.
He was the ZANU PF candidate for Tsholotsho North in 2008 and was later elected an MP for Tsholotsho South.
