LOSING Masvingo Urban Zanu-PF National Assembly candidate Major Taguma Mazarire (Retired) has said he will continue doing charity work for Masvingo’s special groups despite having lost to MDC-Alliance.
Rtd Maj Mazarire was defeated by MDC-Alliance’s Mr Jacob Nyokanhete.
He is the only Zanu-PF candidate that failed to win a seat in Masvingo province.
“I will not stop doing my philanthropic work, as I have always done, despite losing an election,” said Rtd Maj Mazarire.
He said his desire to assist the less privileged members of society was not motivated by political ambition.
“I am a Zanu-PF member first before being a National Assembly candidate,” he said. “My party believes in development and assisting the less privileged members of the society is part of that.
I will continue assisting youths, the elderly, including those inmates at Mucheke Old People’s Home and people with disability in Mucheke suburbs. I lost an election, but my desire to assist special groups in my community has never been informed by my political aspirations.
“I will continue carrying my principal, President Mnangagwa’s torch of contributing to the socio-economic development of the country.”
Rtd Maj Mazarire said he would continue coming up with initiatives that will benefit the people of Masvingo. He said plans to scale up operations at his quarry making company were now at an advanced stage.
