following the death of the party’s provincial political commissar, Cde Philip Mudzingi Chipere Muguti.
Cde Muguti (58) who died on Wednesday will be buried at his Rufaro Farm in Karoi today.
In a statement yesterday, Zanu-PF political commissar, Cde Webster Shamu, said a new date for the polls will be announced after the Annual National People’s Conference to be held in Bulawayo next week. Cde
Muguti was declared a provincial hero. Mashonaland West acting provincial chairman, Cde Reuben Marumahoko, said Cde Muguti died on Wednesday in Kwekwe where he was receiving treatment.
Cde Muguti died after a long illness. Cde Marumahoko described Cde Muguti as a tried and tested party member.
“Cde Muguti’s contribution to the party dates back to 1977 when he participated in the armed struggle as a war collaborator.
“After independence, he served in various capacities in the party structures as a district treasurer, district chairman, Kariba unification member and provincial deputy secretary for administration.
“He rose to become the party’s provincial secretary for the commissariat, the position he had at the time of his death,” he said.
“We urge our members and supporters and the rest of our people to emulate his revolutionary spirit as we engage in programmes to advance the people’s cause for determination,” he said. Mourners are gathered at Rufaro Farm. Cde Muguti is survived his wife and 11 children.
