adminduring a meeting to finalise preparations for the elections yesterday, national political commissar, Cde Webster Shamu, said the level of organisation and work put to prepare for the polls showed the party was organised.
“If Zanu-PF is organised like this in elections to come then we can safely say that no party can stand a chance against us.
“We are laying the foundation for people to express themselves freely in an election,” he said.
The meeting was attended by the four candidates contesting in the elections – acting chairman Cde Reuben Maruma- hoko, Zvimba South legislator Cde Walter Chidakwa, war veteran Cde Moffat Marashwa and former chairman Cde John Mafa.
It also included DCC chairpersons and candidates’ representatives among others.
Cde Shamu commended the media for giving fair coverage to all the candidates and urged the candidates to continue working together after the elections.
Politburo member Dr Ignatius Chombo said the playing field was level and the losers should congratulate the winners.
“With this kind of organisation and platform for people to choose the person they want to represent them we strongly feel that the result should be acceptable to all with the losers congratulating the
winners while the winners win graciously,” he said.
At least eight polling stations have been identified in the province with the remote district of Kariba having three centres at Nyamhunga Primary School in Kariba town, Makande Primary School and
Siakobvu Primary School.
In Chegutu, voting will be at Selous Country Club, Kadoma district will vote at Rimuka Hall, Zvimba district at Murombedzi Business Centre.
Voting in Hurungwe district will take place at Karoi Junior School while Makonde district will vote at the Chinhoyi University of Technology Gym Hall.
At least six buses have been provided by the party to ferry 4 245 voters.
