ZANU-PF Matabeleland North province has started preparations for the 19th National People’s Conference to be held at the Bindura University of Science Education, Mashonaland Central, in December.
About 200 Matabeleland North delegates will gather at Lupane State University (LSU) for a provincial conference tentatively set for October 26-31 to prepare for the December event.
The rest of the party membership and supporters will follow proceedings virtually.
The province has started holding preparatory meetings and various committees have been set up to mobilise resources for the conference.
TelOne and Liquid Telecom will provide Wi-Fi services for the virtual delegates for the provincial conference at LSU.
Provincial chairperson Cde Richard Moyo said Central Committee and National Assembly members will be accommodated in Bulawayo and transported by bus to the venue on a daily basis, while other delegates will be accommodated on campus.
“Preparations have started and committees are running around mobilising resources. The venue has been agreed on and we expect 200 delegates as we will be using an open space on campus,” said Cde Moyo.
He said the province was still in the process of organising cells.
The provincial party Youth League deputy political commissar Cde Fortunate Ndlovu said out of 4 748 cells needed in the province, 2 600 had been established and 924 have been electronically captured.
He said the province had also set up 77 branches out of a possible 955.
The party has 191 districts in the province spread around the seven administrative districts, Binga, Bubi, Hwange, Lupane, Nkayi, Tsholotsho and Umguza, and 13 constituencies.
The provincial Youth League chair Cde Sithandazile Moyo encouraged the youths to be actively involved in the formation of cells to strengthen the party from the grassroots. — @ncubeleon
