ZANU-PF Matabeleland South Province has started preparations for the party’s 19th annual National People’s Conference with delegates from the province set to converge at Umzingwane Agricultural College where they will follow proceedings virtually.
Speaking during a preparatory meeting in Gwanda yesterday which was attended by the party’s leadership and members of the Provincial Development Committee (PDC), Zanu-PF Matabeleland South acting provincial chairman Cde Never Khanye urged various stakeholders to work hard to ensure that the conference is a success.
“The purpose of this meeting is to plan for the conference which will be held in October. As Matabeleland South Province, delegates will gather at Umzingwane Agricultural College for three days where they will follow the conference virtually. As a province we will have to come up with a budget to see how much we will need to make this conference a success,” he said.
“Just like what we did in 2018 when we hosted the conference, we will have to hold our preparatory meetings at our venue so that we can monitor the progress as we move on. So, our next meeting will be held at Umzingwane Agricultural College.”
Zanu-PF Matabeleland South provincial secretary for administration, Cde William Dewa urged various sub-committees to submit their budgets in order to come up with a budget for the province. He said while the national office was going to avail some funds, the province also had to mobilise its own resources for the conference.
Cde Dewa said all sub-committees had to schedule meetings in which they will come up with strategies to ensure the smooth flow of the conference.
“We have to ensure that all resources are there and that there is food for all 381 provincial delegates to last them for the duration of the conference. We also need to ensure that all systems are put in place so that delegates can follow the conference virtually without any disruptions. Please note that only fully vaccinated people will be allowed in the conference,” he said.
Matabeleland South Provincial Affairs and Devolution Minister, Cde Abedinico Ncube urged all stakeholders to be united as they plan for the conference.
“This work isn’t only for the party but all stakeholders from Matabeleland South Province including civil servants. Our country is led by the Zanu-PF party Government and therefore, we all need to support the Government. Let’s all feel mandated to contribute in any way possible,” he said.
Stakeholders during the meeting agreed that each district in the province has to contribute two beasts.
The Zanu-PF Annual People’s Conference will be held virtually this year because of the Covid-19 pandemic, with a few members at the venue. The host province is Mashonaland Central, where only a small number of people will gather at Bindura University of Science Education (BUSE), while others will attend virtually from all the other provinces.
