The launch was done on Saturday at the Zanu-PF Provincial Headquarters in Gwanda town by the Member of Parliament for Mwenezi East Cde Kudakwashe Bhasikiti on behalf of the national secretary for administration, Cde Didymus Mutasa, during the party’s Provincial Coordinating Committee (PCC) meeting.
Speaking during the launch, Cde Bhasikiti said he had been sent by the President’s Commissariat Department to officially launch the programme of restructuring Zanu-PF party cells in Matabeleland South Province.
“For our party to be strong, we have to restructure the party cells every year. We have to know our membership data at grassroot level by registering cell members in a register that would be kept by the party in its database. It is from now on that the restructuring exercise has started with immediate effect.
“Those who were members of cells last year may have changed and we shall know them by the end of this exercise. This data base register will be used in all the party’s elections whether it is primary elections or otherwise,” he said.
The deadline for the completion of the restructuring process has been set for 31 January this month.
Cde Bhasikiti said the database would be composed of true and loyal Zanu-PF cadres.
“The party has a duty to increase its membership but in doing so no one should be forced to join the party. The people should join the party on their own accord taking into consideration that Zanu-PF is for the people’s wishes,” he said.
He said the party had already shown its commitment in economically empowering the people and would go further doing so by reviving companies that were forced to close down due to the effects of the Western countries imposed sanctions.
Cde Bhasikiti said the revival of defunct companies would inturn create job opportunities for the people in different societies.
“The year 2013, as President Mugabe has said earlier during the Zanu-PF 13th conference held in Gweru recently, is the year of Zanu-PF electoral victory. It will not be an accident for Zanu-PF to win the elections, but a sincere victory, as the party has the people at heart,” he said.
The Zanu-PF provincial chairman Cde Andrew Langa would guide the restructuring of the party cells in Matabeleland South Province.
Speaking at the launch of the programme, Cde Langa said the Zanu-PF provincial council would work as a united force to see that the restructuring exercise is completed to meet the deadline.
“The worst enemy for us as Zanu-PF is no longer the opposition parties, but it is some of us that have become the enemy of the party by criticising their fellow party cadres. Let us do away with that and work collectively as a team for us to win elections,” said Cde Langa.
