Zanu PF rules the roost

THE ruling Zanu PF has won 144 of 210 National Assembly seats effectively sealing a two thirds majority in Parliament.

Results announced by the Zimbabwe Electoral Commission on Wednesday afternoon indicated that of the 207 seats announced so far Zanu PF has won in 144 constituencies, MDC Alliance in 61, NPF (1) and Temba Mliswa (independent) won one.

ZEC chairperson Justice Priscilla Chigumba said three constituencies are still to submit their results.

She also said Presidential elections will be announced in due course as the verification process was still in progress.

 “After the process has been completed we will announce the results of the Presidential election,” she said.
