Zanu-PF steps up conference preps

All the sub-committees have since presented positive progress reports and have pledged to go an extra mile to ensure that come December 18 it will be all systems go.
The chairperson of the information and publicity committee, Senator Monica Mutsvangwa, said they wanted this year’s conference to leave a mark in the whole of Manicaland Province.

Speaking during a meeting last Thursday night, Cde Mutsvangwa, said: “This conference should leave a long lasting mark in the province. It should be different from all the conferences because we want people to talk about it for a long time to come. The conference should not be all about deliberations, but we want the people of Manicaland to feel that something big is happening in their province. We hope all our proposals will be taken into consideration and that the party’s leadership will find time to mingle with the ordinary people outside the conference venue,” she said.

Sen Mutsvangwa said there was need for Zanu-PF to go back to the grassroots and re-educate people on its objectives as a party.
“We know that some people have turned their backs against the party and we should find out the reasons and offer possible solutions. This cannot be achieved if we remain in our offices. The people out there should identify themselves with Zanu-PF because this is the party that brought Zimbabwe’s independence.

“We should also have programmes for the youths because it appears as if we are not doing enough to accommodate them in our activities. The youths are the party’s future and we should ignore them at our own peril. We should engage them in debates and discussions for us to hear what they feel we are getting it wrong. You cannot offer solutions to a problem without diagnosing the cause. We should help in educating the youths about the country’s history and what the future has to offer for them as patriotic Zimbabweans,” she said.
