ZANU-PF is strategising on how to handle five party members who decided to stand as independent candidates in the July 30 harmonised elections, Midlands Provincial chair Cde Daniel Mackenzie-Ncube has said.
Cdes Tsikadzashe Nemato (Gokwe-Kana), Johannes Marise (Gokwe-Mafungautsi), Dorothy Mhangami (Gokwe-Central) and Jossinia Maupa (Kwekwe-Central), successfully filed their papers during the nomination court last Thursday.
“We have five cadres who have decided to stand as independent candidates due to reasons yet unknown to the party.
“But we are still looking at ways to deal with the matter,” said Cde Mackenzie-Ncube.
He said the party was willing to listen to the five’s concerns.
“We are a democratic party that listens to everyone’s concerns. We will listen to their concerns and come up ways of dealing with them. By the end of the week we would have come up with a solution,” he said.
He hailed the nomination process in the province, which he said went on smoothly for the party.
“We do not have any problem in the province, all our candidates made it through.
“There is no one who was affected, especially the House of Assembly candidates. I am still to get a report on councillors, but so far so good,” he said.
Cde Mackenzie-Ncube rallied the party’s candidates to roll up their sleeves and work hard as the party looks forward to a landslide victory in the province.
“As the Midlands Province, all eyes will be on us, so we have to put our shoulders to the wheel and work very hard.
“We need to shed the business-as-usual approach, we should talk less and act more,” he said.
Cde Mackenzie-Ncube said the province had a winning team that will deliver victory in the harmonised election.
“The team we have set up is one that will certainly deliver victory for ED and for the party. I do not have any doubts about that one,” he said.
