Zanu PF party members must be environmentally exemplary and support  Government’s clean-up campaign, the party’s director general Brigadier General (Rtd) Ezekiel Zabanyana said yesterday soon after Zanu PF staff cleaned-up the area around the party headquarters.

President Mnangagwa, who is the Zanu PF First Secretary and President, has declared the first Friday of each month to be set aside for cleaning the environment.

“Our President declared the first Friday of the month as a clean-up day to make sure we keep our environment clean. This exercise is led by Her Excellency, the First Lady Dr Auxillia Mnangagwa through her Department as Secretary for Environment and Tourism within the Party. We must therefore be exemplary in keeping our environment clean as this ensures that  diseases such as cholera and typhoid are kept at bay,” said Brig Gen Zabanyana

“We must also not forget the 3Rs principle of reduce, reuse and recycle as these are key in achieving a safer and clean environment,” he said.

President Mnangagwa launched the national clean-up programme in December 2018 based on moral persuasion urging all citizens to clean their environment between 8am and 10 am on the first Friday of every month.
