AHEAD of next year’s elections, Zanu PF has warned some aspiring candidates against undermining the credibility of incumbent parliamentarians.
The call comes at a time when some aspiring Zanu PF candidates have started soliciting for votes ahead of the 2023 harmonised elections.
Such candidates have been visiting constituencies making donations ranging from grain, fertilisers, wheelchairs, groceries, and school fees even in constituencies under Zanu PF legislators in a bid to win the hearts of the electorate.
Zanu PF National Political Commissar Cde Mike Bimha said such behaviour is divisive and tantamount to indiscipline. He added that the revolutionary party will institute disciplinary measures.
“There have been cases of this nature and some have been dealt with by the Commissariat department because, in our last Politburo meeting, the Commissariat requested authority to deal with cases of indiscipline rather than wait for these cases to go through the motion right up to the National Disciplinary Committee (NDC).
“The Politburo in its wisdom approved the request from the Commissariat. Where there are such cases of indiscipline that tarnish the image of the party, the Commissariat can deal with them as and when they happen”.
Cde Bimha said if members felt aggrieved by penalties imposed by the Commissariat they could always appeal to the NDC.
