The ZANU PF Women’s League has applauded the Government for timeously procuring life-saving coronavirus vaccines, which it believes will save many lives and drive the country’s economic growth efforts.
Speaking at the party’s Harare Province Covid-19 awareness programme launched in Harare yesterday, ZANU PF Secretary for the Women’s League Cde Mabel Chinomona said delivery of over five million Covid-19 vaccines to date shows the Government’s commitment to save lives.
She thanked President Mnangagwa for donating fabrics that are being used to make face masks. ZANU PF Harare received 1 450 rolls of fabric, resulting in the production of 29 000 masks that will be distributed across the province. Speaking at the launch, which was held at Gospel of God Church in Hatfield, where some of the masks were produced, Cde Chinomona said: “President Mnangagwa’s Government is currently among top countries that have managed to persistently and timeously procure Covid-19 vaccines. This has been done to ensure that lives are not lost needlessly and to ensure the economy is also saved. Science and statistics show that vaccines prevent critical illness and death. This is what Government wants to avoid. So far, we are on the path to achieving herd immunity. This means that we can safely and fully open our economy and rebuild our economy.”
She urged communities to continue following Covid-19 health protocols even after vaccination.
The Women’s League also endorsed President Mnangagwa as the ZANU PF candidate for 2023 elections.
Speaking at the same event, the League’s Secretary for Administration, Cde Monica Mutsvangwa, applauded the relationship between the Government and the church.
Cde Mutsvangwa, who is also Information, Publicity and Broadcasting Services Minister, said ZANU PF and the Government are committed to working with the church.
“Let us go into the community, spread and teach communities about Covid-19. As we do that, let us also talk about the various achievements being done by the Government such as roads rehabilitation, reducing inflation, economic reform and other issues. As we approach the Heroes’ holiday, let us take this time to appreciate scarifies made by our leaders and heroes.”
Also speaking at the event, ZANU PF Women’s League Harare province chairperson Cde Betty Kaseke said the cloth face mask programme had empowered women across the province.
