Herald Reporters
All is set for the Zanu-PF Youth League conference that will start today with the arrival of delegates from various parts of the country ahead of the official opening by President Mugabe tomorrow, while accreditation of delegates was ongoing at the party headquarters.
This came as Zanu-PF held elections in some provinces yesterday for the Women’s League to fill slots for Central Committee members, which saw some party heavyweights in the organ falling by the way side.

The Women’s League will hold its conference next week.
In Manicaland, the wing’s national secretary for information and publicity Cde Monica Mutsvangwa failed to make it in elections that were won by Cdes Nyasha Chikwinya, Jane Mabuto-Knight, Agatha Mugomba-Mparutsa and Alice Mutindori.

Zanu-PF Manicaland deputy chairman Cde Elliot Kasu confirmed the results.
In Mashonaland West, former Mashonaland West chairlady Cde Sarah Mahoka, Cde Caroline Mugabe, Cde Jennifer Mhlanga and Cde Hilda Bhobho emerged the winners.

In Mashonaland East, Cdes Olivia Muchena, Mabel Nkatazo, Phoebe Bharataz and Catherine Tapera got the ticket to represent the province.
Party provincial chairperson Cde Ray Kaukonde confirmed the results.

Mashonaland Central and Harare provincial executives said they were still finalising the results and would make them known today.
Masvingo and the Midlands held their district elections yesterday and will hold their elections today.

The Youth League conference got a boost yesterday when the Affirmative Action Group donated bottled water, soft drinks and stationery worth US$5 000.

The conference runs from today until Sunday, with the highlight being the election of the deputy secretary on Saturday.
The winner sits in the Politburo, the party’s highest decision-making organ outside Congress.
