THE ruling Zanu-PF Youth League has buried the hatchet which saw a section of the youths trying to pass an unconstitutional vote of no confidence on the league’s leadership.
Some sections of the Youth League last month announced that they had ousted secretary Cde Pupurai Togarepi and his deputy Cde Lewis Matutu.
In an interview on the sidelines of a public lecture at Gweru Polytechnic College last week, Cde Matutu said there were some misguided elements within the party who were trying to mislead the party leadership by peddling falsehoods.
He said the section of the youths that wanted to pass a vote of no confidence on him have since been called to order.
“Well, it is normal to disagree on certain issues. If two brains always agree it means the other one is not functioning. However, over and above the party has rules and regulations that are prescribed by its strong constitution. We abide by it and it is incumbent upon every party member to toe the line,” he said.
Cde Matutu said the Youth League has since buried the hatchet and moved on.
“We are now united as the Youth League and we remain guided by the party principles and constitution,” he said.
Cde Matutu said the Youth League has embarked on a nationwide tour to interface with youths and strengthening the party.
Cde Matutu said the Youth League will soon announce a new date for the holding of the President’s Solidarity March. Initially the march was set for yesterday in Harare.
