The revolutionary party leadership should take stern action against the few individuals who want to tarnish the image of the party.
Media reports that one zanu-pf youth leader in Nemanwa business centre in Masvingo was assaulted by his counterparts over disagreements on a slogan used during a provincial meeting called for the mobilisation of youths “one million-man march” scheduled to take place in Harare on May 25, 2016 show that youths in the country still need guidance in tackling political issues.
That behaviour shows immaturity in those who think violence is the answer to disagreements.
Some of these youths forget that one cannot solve disagreements through the use of violence as that is counterproductive.
They need to be advised that violence has no room in a peace loving country like Zimbabwe hence those indulging in such acts should be reprimanded.
zanu-pf youths should realise that indulging in violent activities puts the country in the international spotlight thereby creating bad publicity for both the country and the ruling party.
Party youths need to guard against such behaviours as they are alien to the revolutionary party.
It should also be known by these upcoming political individuals that violence coming from any quarter is an abomination on its own, hence, it should not be allowed to take place anywhere in the country.
zanu-pf is preparing for the 2018 harmonised elections which the party needs to win overwhelmingly. The one million-man march mobilisation is a zanu-pf initiative meant for every patriotic youth who cherishes the leadership of President Mugabe, to take part in.
The youths from all political parties should not forget that President Mugabe is on record denouncing violence in the country.
It prudent for them to embrace the President`s call for a violent free country. It is not proper for youths to fight each other because of a misunderstanding over a slogan, yet the main objective of the meeting was to mobilise for the one-million man march to celebrate the leadership of President Mugabe and his family. Cherishing the President Mugabe’s iconic leadership should be adored by every youth in the country.
For those in the dark on this issue, it was reported in various media that the zanu-pf Masvingo provincial youth secretary for legal affairs, Cde Henry Chinovava, was allegedly assaulted by Ward 7 chairperson Cde Paul Zimharo for chanting a slogan in support of the First Lady Amai Grace Mugabe in Masvingo recently. It was further said that Cde Zimharo, who was not happy over that slogan by Cde Chinovava, started assaulting him as a sign that he had erred. Masvingo zanu-pf Provincial Acting Chairman Cde Amasa Nhenjana was forced to intervene in the fracas and calm the situation.
Such behaviour by Cde Zimharo should not be allowed to happen because violence creates divisions within the ruling party at a time preparations for the coming 2018 harmonised elections are beginning to go a gear up.
Youths should be aware that the revolutionary party has come a long way and it should not have its good reputation destroyed by selfish individuals who think that everyone should embrace what they support.
The zanu-pf leadership should urgently act against such individuals who create disharmony in the party through unbecoming behaviour.
As if the Masvingo incident was not enough, other unruly zanu-pf youths in Midlands were restrained by riot police after they wanted to interrupt a provincial meeting to also mobilise members for the one million-man march some few days ago.
The revolutionary party leadership should take stern action against the few individuals who want to tarnish the image of the party.
It should be appreciated that a peaceful environment leads to economic development. Violence is a weapon for weak minds who think that with violence one can achieve what her/she wants.
The Politburo has realised that some youths cannot work alone as they still need political guidance. Having senior members representing the youths in the Politburo is a message to the youths that they need politically mature heads to guide and nurture them.
Recently, the deputy national youth secretary in zanu-pf Cde Kudzai Chipanga was quoted in the media demanding the youths to have direct link to President Mugabe, saying their issues were not presented well by senior members representing them in the Politburo.
Such a demand by Cde Chipanga is good, but the unruly behaviour by some of them calls for a second thought from those advocating for that direct link with the President.
Cde Chipanga should first read the riot act to his colleagues to behave well to create unity in their wing.
It should be known to Cde Chipanga that President Mugabe is for peace.
It should also be known to Cde Chipanga that unity is very important among the youths as they have the largest vote.
For that reason, the President would be happy to have all the youths speak with one voice.
Political maturity comes with age and experience, and if youths still believe that they can solve problems using violence, then they still require guidance.
