TWO years after the promotion to glory of the founder of ZAOGA, and servant and apostle of God, Dr Ezekiel Handinawangu Guti, the church continues glorifying God for 75 years of preaching the gospel non-stop, laying an unshakeable foundation.
The gesture is a reminder to the church and the world at large that indeed God is faithful to his word.
On May 5, 1923, in Ngaone, Chipinge, E.H. Guti was born to Dorcas and Ngwadzeni.
In 1938, while he was praying alone in the bush, an angel appeared to him through thick music and said: “Fear not, sin not.”
It is a principle that has kept the church thus far.
Dr E.H. Guti was a unique man, who met God before he met a preacher, and all that followed was nothing but the direction of God himself.
From the humble village of Ngaone in Chipinge, Manicaland, where there were no schools or churches, cutting across Africa and the world over, Dr E.H. Guti’s humility defied the odds, becoming the father of all nations.
The 75 years of preaching the gospel non-stop bear testimony to a man rooted and grounded in the gospel, a true disciple of Jesus Christ, as echoed in Matthew 28:19-20: “Go ye therefore and make disciples of all nations . . .”
Dr E.H. Guti was a wonderful picture of how God can use any person regardless of their past.
Leadership and legacy
The church continues to thrive under the leadership of our father, the Presiding Bishop Joseph Joe Guti, and our mother, Pastor Miriam Nyasha Guti.
The secretary-general, Apostle Mishael Nyambo, has Dr Steve Simukai as his deputy.
The senior Archbishop, Dr Eunor Guti, seats alongside the leadership hierarchy, mainly playing an advisory role to the church.
The Portuguese-speaking nations have Archbishops Mateus and Petronella Simao, whileArchbishops Elias and Prisca Soko preside over the nation of South Africa.
To date, ZAOGA FIF has spread the gospel to over 170 nations.
The legacy continues
As we celebrate 65 years of God’s grace, we remember Archbishop Dr E.H. Guti’s passion, vision and commitment to serving God and humanity.
We honour his legacy by spreading the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
As Philippians 4:9 reminds us, “Whatever you have learned or received or heard from me, or seen in me, put it into practice. And the God of peace will be with you.”
Viva ZAOGA FIF!
What a great example he has set for the entire Christian family and the world at large!
Indeed, as one of the Shona church songs notes, “ZAOGA haizi yekutamba, maiona, inofamba naMweya Mutsvene.”
