THE Zimbabwe Displays Wellness, Recreational Education, Sport for All Association will hold their inaugural national conference and elective congress in Kwekwe from November 30 to December 3.

The association was formed against a backdrop of disjointed co-ordinations of recreational and wellness activities in Zimbabwe. ZDWERESA came into existence to address the gaps in this big but yet untapped sector.

Richard Gotora, the association’s acting president, said the inaugural conference shall see delegates from the ten provinces, drawn from mass displays, wellness and physical activities, drum majorettes, boy scouts, girl guides, brownies, aerobics, sport for all and physical education.

“Each activity shall have three representatives per province. The three-day long conference shall see the delegates satisfying the association’s statutes after having adopted their constitution as affiliate control structures of ZDWERESA,” Gotora said.

The four control committees namely Mass Displays, Physical Activity, Recreation and Life skill, and Sport for All will be confirmed once their constitution is satisfied by their membership.

Government has promulgated the policy of national wellness and it is incumbent upon organisations like ZDWERESA to implement the policy through a structured programme for mass displays, physical activities, recreation education and sport for all.

ZDWERESA will after the November conference go full throttle in establishing structures at grassroot level to prop up the national programme in the ten provinces.

A general assembly made up of the four main codes shall be unveiled at the Kwekwe retreat whereupon the Association shall be confirmed as the sole custodians of the mass displays, physical activities, physical activities, recreational education and sport for all in Zimbabwe.

A full cast of high-profile speakers and representatives from the Government, Sports and Recreation Commission and the business sector shall present papers on topical issues during the conference.
