THE Zimbabwe Electoral Commission (Zec) has invited applications for accreditation to prospective election observers for the Victoria Falls Municipality Ward 9 and Gokwe South Rural District Council (RDC) Ward 11 by-elections scheduled for Saturday.
Zec is inviting both local and foreign observers and the prospective observers should have submitted their application forms before the end of business today.

In a statement, Zec chief elections officer Mr Lovemore Sekeramayi said local observers and the media should direct their applications through the provincial elections office of the province in which the observers and media would want to cover. He said foreign observers should direct their applications to the chief elections officer at the Zec headquarters in Harare.

Mr Sekeramayi said the electoral body is charging $10 for local observers, $20 for regional observers, $50 for observers from foreign embassies in the country and $100 for observers from any other country outside Africa.

Zimbabwe media practitioners accredited with the Zimbabwe Media Commission and working in the country for foreign media houses will pay $50 to be accredited while journalists working for the local media will pay $10.

He said all applications must list the names and identity particulars of all individuals seeking accreditation and acquaint themselves with the provisions of accreditation of observers’ regulations of 2013.
