Zemura Foundation launches schools gala

THE Jordan Zemura Foundation will host its inaugural primary schools football tournament and girls coaching initiative at Wise Owl Group of Schools in Harare on Saturday.

Eight invited schools are expected to take part in the event, which will feature a seven-a-side football tournament for boys and girls. There will also be a girls coaching and mentorship session aimed at encouraging greater participation of girls in sport.

The initiative is part of the Jordan Zemura Foundation’s youth development programmes in Zimbabwe.

Zemura, who plays for Udinese in Italy and represents the Warriors, has in recent years been involved in community projects through his foundation.

Some of the projects have included the donation of football kits, drilling of boreholes and support for schools and young people. All participating learners are expected to receive prizes and goody bags.

“This initiative is about inspiring the next generation, creating opportunity and making sure young girls and boys feel seen, included and empowered through sport and mentorship.”
