ZEMURA HOGS LIMELIGHT

JORDAN Zemura has been voted the Cherries’ outstanding player in Bournemouth’s 1-1 draw with Newcastle in an English Premier League match on Saturday.

The defender recorded his first assist of the season, which led to the opening goal, by Phillip Billing.

The assist was Zemura’s first goal involvement for the club, since April, when the team was still in the English Championship.

The 23-year-old has so far made seven appearances in the top-flight, making his debut on Match Day one against Aston Villa.

Zemura also became the sixth Cherries academy graduate to represent the club in the top-flight, following in the footsteps of Baily Cargill, Matt Worthington, Jack Simpson, Sam Surridge and Mark Travers.

Zemura played a vital role to help his side return to the Premiership.

The 22-year-old has been brilliant in the Cherries’ squad this season and has cemented his place in the starting XI.

Aston Villa midfielder Marvelous Nakamba’s wait for his first minute on the pitch this season continued after he sat out their 1-0 win over Southampton.

The 28-year-old Warriors’ international has only made the Villa Match Day squad on three occasions as coach Steven Gerrard prefers other options in midfield.

In the English Championship, Wigan Athletic captain Tendayi Darikwa returned to action on Saturday after recovering from a shoulder injury.

The defender sustained the injury last month, but avoided surgery.

Darikwa played 83 minutes as Wigan lost 1-0 to Reading.

Macauley Bonne was an unused substitute in QPR’s goalless draw against Stoke City.

Plymouth Argyle defender Brendan Galloway was sent off 20 minutes after coming on as a second-half substitute in the 2-2 draw against Portsmouth in League 1.

Admiral Muskwe made his third successive start in League 1 as Fleetwood drew 1-1 against Charlton Athletic, but the striker had a subdued afternoon.

In League 2, David Moyo came on as a late substitute in Barrow’s 2-0 win over Newport County.

France-based Marshall Munetsi played the entire match as Stade de Reims lost 0-3 to Monaco in Ligue 1.

He played in central midfield and received a yellow card in the first half.

The result left Reims in the relegation zone with six points from eight games.

Teenage Hadebe played the full 90 minutes in Houston Dynamo’s 1-3 loss to Los Angeles FC in the American MLS.
