LEGENDARY former Highlanders striker Zenzo “Zemura” Moyo has emerged as the leading candidate to take up the role of team manager at Bosso, marking yet another significant shift in the club’s rapidly evolving technical structure.
While official confirmation is still pending, sources close to the club indicate that Moyo is set to replace Amini Soma Phiri, whose short-term contract expired at the end of the year and was not renewed.
Moyo’s appointment comes amid earlier revelations that Bruce Tshuma had been earmarked to assume the same role.
A revered figure at Highlanders, Moyo is expected to inject vast experience and institutional knowledge into the dressing room, particularly following the appointment of Benjani Mwaruwari as head coach.
The ex- AEP Paphos player has also been honing his administrative skills at Bulawayo City where he has held the role of vice-chairman.
Moyo now looks set to combine with former Warriors skipper Benjani who was recently elevated to the top job after Bosso restructured their technical team.
The anticipated arrival of Moyo represents another twist in what has been a turbulent period for Bosso, characterised by backroom reshuffles and unresolved contractual matters.
Chief among these is the situation involving short-lived head coach Thabo Senong, who may be entitled to one month’s salary, depending on the outcome of his pending work permit application.
A source close to the matter told Zimpapers Sports Hub that any payment to Senong is conditional.
“The club may pay Thabo Senong one month’s salary, but that will depend on whether his work permit is approved, which is still pending,” said the source.
Senong was initially appointed head coach late last year on a two-year contract.
However, following the restructuring, Mwaruwari, originally appointed as technical director, was named head coach, while Senong was offered the role of assistant coach. Negotiations around the revised position failed to yield an agreement, effectively ending Senong’s brief association with the club.
Highlanders chief executive officer Brian Mnkandla confirmed that talks with Senong were ongoing, though he declined to disclose specific details.
“A settlement is being negotiated with coach Thabo, who, unfortunately, could not take up his duties at the club.
“Further role explorations also took place, although an agreement could not be reached,” said Mnkandla.
“We hope this process will bring finality to this chapter and keep the door open for future collaboration.”
As Bosso seek stability both on and off the pitch, the expected appointment of Moyo is seen as a strategic move aimed at restoring order and reinforcing the club’s identity during a period of profound transition.
