Zemura plays 65 minutes in Bournemouth’s Carabao win

ZIMBABWE international Jordan Zemura played 65 minutes in Bournemouth’s 4-1 impressive Carabao Cup third round win against Everton on Tuesday night.

The left back, who had a great game had to be pulled off for Ryan Fredericks in the 65th minute amid fears of an injury picked up at the halftime mark.

Zemura, who was an unused substitute in Bournemouth’s 4-3 away defeat to Leeds in the English Premiership at the weekend, made it to the starting lineup and almost got to the end of a nasty two-footed lunge from Antony Gordon before halftime.

Gordon had to be thankful for lack of VAR in the Caraboa Cup as he should have been sent off for his double open foot challenge on Zemura but instead got a yellow card.

The 22-year-old Zemura who has eight English Premiership starts from 14 games, twice overlapped and sent in perfect deliveries which his teammates fluffed.

Goals from Jamal Lowe, Junior Stanislas, substitute Emiliano Marcondes and Jaidon Anthony made sure it was Gary O’Neil’s team who progressed to the last 16. Everton’s substitute Demarai Gray got the consolation goal for the Frank Lampard-coached side.

Bournemouth will find out their next round opponent after tonight’s draw to be held after tonight’s Manchester United versus Aston Villa game at Old Trafford.

Zimbabwean midfielder Marvelous Nakamba who missed Aston Villa’s 3-1 EPL win against The Red Devils last Sunday will be hoping to make it into the match day squad for the cup game at “The Theatre of Dreams”. -@ZililoR
