DREADLOCKED Warriors defender Jordan Zemura has urged his teammates to stay locked in and give their all in the remaining 2026 FIFA World Cup Qualifiers, saying the games are crucial for fine-tuning ahead of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (Afcon).
The Warriors’ hopes of playing at the World Cup ended after a 1-0 defeat to Benin in a Group C clash last Friday night.
With three games left, including Tuesday’s showdown against Rwanda at Orlando Stadium in South Africa, Zemura says the team must keep focus and build momentum.
“I think in the next game we are not looking much into making a statement but just to show how much we have come from when we started the Afcon Qualifiers and these World Cup Qualifiers.
“We just want to put our performance in place because we have something big coming up. We want to use these matches to build and grow as a team ahead of Afcon in Morocco,” Zemura told Zifa Media.
The versatile defender stressed the need for consistency as Zimbabwe gears up for the continental showdown in December.
Meanwhile, the Warriors held their first training session at the University of Johannesburg on Sunday in preparation for the Rwanda clash.
All players trained fully, including vice-captain Marshall Munetsi, who has rejoined the squad for this tie. The technical team confirmed there are no injury concerns in camp.
Zimbabwe will host Rwanda later before wrapping up their Group C fixtures in November, with fans hoping to see a team ready to challenge Africa’s best.
