Chitungwiza district administrator Mrs Zivai Chisango hailed Red Cross and Cell One Electronics for their partnership.
“Red Cross has been instrumental from the very beginning when these families were robbed of their peace and loved ones.
“They are showing the importance of their role as a body that recognises the need for emergency help to affected people world over.
“We have seen different churches, banks and a couple of organisations also coming on board to help the affected families, which is a positive message these people are sending to the community and the nation at large,” said Mrs Chisango.
CellOne Electronics provided the groceries while Red Cross donated seven beds, blankets and pots on top of temporary tents they pitched on the stands a month ago.
Speaking at the same occasion, Macheso pledged to help the Chitungwiza residents.
“I grew up in Chitungwiza and I know what the people here want and challenges they are facing. What I want to assure them is that we are going to do our best to give them the necessary support they yearn for from time to time.”
Families of the victims were promised full construction of their houses to be completed by end of July.
Mrs Violet Dumba, daughter to the owner of the house which the traditional healer Sekuru Shumba was renting, expressed happiness for the assistance they were getting from the organisations.
The Chitungwiza explosion, which occurred three months ago, left many Chitungwiza residents stunned and people are still seeking answers to the exact cause of the accident.
