Zenzile Mpofu takes temporary charge at Moneni

ZIMBABWE born female coach Zenzile Mpofu has taken temporary charge at MTN Premier League of Swaziland outfit Moneni Pirates after coach Zenzele Ace Dlamini finally quit amid turbulence at the club.

After numerous threats to quit, Dlamini finally called a day after last weekendas club meeting with the fans who accused him of having reached the ceiling of his technical contribution to the team.

In the letter, the coach made it clear he would not be staying to try make things right at the Buccaneers.

a?It is important to respect people and tolerate their opinion especially when they feel that one has run out of ideas. I think this only means you are no longer adding any value and it is a way of thanking you.

a?It is, therefore, important to respect them and step aside, then offer your help to people who will appreciate you,a? the coach said in the letter. I am happy I added value to the team and I feel it is time we go our separate ways before I get my image tainted.a?

a?I wish the team the best of luck in its endeavours. I violate my principles of leaving anything that is not workable in time before it causes damage on my part. This is a great lesson learnt on my part. In future I will not service anything that has no structure because where there is no structure there is no order,a? Dlamini said.

The development left Mpofu to take over the reigns, albeit temporarily while the team searches for a new coach and chances are she will in charge when Pirates faces Mbabane Highlanders at Somhlolo National Stadium on Sunday.

The search for a new Moneni Pirates coach seemed to have hit the boiling point after it was reported that the club had shortlisted two Zimbabwean coaches in Darlington Dodo and Nation Dube to replace Dlamini.

In another development, Caf have lifted the suspension of Swazi referees, Thulani Sibandze and Petros Mbingo who had been iced out after a diabolic decision during the 2018 Chan final qualifier between Zimbabwe and Namibia in Harare.

a?Note that the suspended referees, Thulani Sibandze and Petros Mbingo are now eligible to officiate in domestic competitions subject to them passing statutory fitness tests conducted under the authority of the Refereesa Committee within the NFAS,a? read part of the statement.

The pair had missed on the better part of the first half of the season, which reaches midway with a cocktail of fixtures this weekend, due to the Caf suspension. -@NoelMunzabwa
