Zhakata dedicates show to late band member

Entertainment Correspondent
VETERAN wordsmith, Leonard “Karikoga” Zhakata, will dedicate tomorrow’s show (Saturday) at Dangamvura Hotel to late band member, Norman Kembo who died early this month in a car accident. Sadly, Zhakata’s entourage, Zimbabwe All Stars will descend to Mutare without influential and longest-serving band member, Norman Kembo, popularly known as Nomara.

He joined the Zim All Stars in 1998 and has been one of the influential dancers and backing vocalists.

Tomorrow, Zhakata is expected to carry on from where he left and belt out a blend of new hits and yester-year oldies that made him a respected giant in the music industry. He has highly acclaimed albums such as Maruva Enyika, Mubikira, Pakuyambuka and Ndingaite Sei?

He rose beyond the mediocre periphery this year following the release of Nguva Yenyasha, an album that carries the ZIMA song of the year and hit Dhonza Makomborero.

The show organiser, Maxwell Mayanga, said Zhakata will be back in the sprawling suburb by public demand.

“We are happy to host the veteran musician again. We were impressed by his last performance and we are confident that he will continue from where he left. It’s sad he will be without Nomara who was a darling of many. We urge people to come in numbers and have a blissful night,” he said.
