Zibagwe Rural District Council is repossessing more than 300 residential and commercial stands at Zhombe Business Centre along the Kwekwe-Gokwe Road after the owners failed to develop the stands. Zibagwe RDC chief executive Mr Farayi Machaya said the repossessed stands will be put back on the market.

“The RDC will be repossessing more than 300 stands at Zhombe District Service Centre after its owners failed to adhere to the terms and conditions of the offer,” he said.

“The repossessed stands were supposed to have been developed as at July 2018, but nothing has been done on the ground.” Mr Machaya said the repossessed stands will be resold.

“We have, however, given those who wish to lodge a complaint with the council a chance to do so and such people should visit our offices in Kwekwe,” he said.

Some of the beneficiaries castigated the local authority saying the decision was cruel. “We are struggling, everyone is struggling and the move taken by the council is very cruel,” said Mrs Melah Moyo.

“We are paying our rates for these stands, that alone means we acknowledge our responsibility, but under these harsh economic conditions, it is difficult to put up a structure.” Another beneficiary, Mr Limon Mhlanga, said the local authority should give them more time.
