The Zimbabwe Council of Copyrights (ZICCO) has once again demonstrated its unwavering commitment to its members by covering medical expenses for Thabiso Moyo, a celebrated musician and esteemed board member.
This action not only highlights ZICCO’s dedication to the welfare of its members but also underscores the organisation’s role in fostering a supportive community for artistes.
By standing with Moyo during this challenging times, ZICCO reinforces its mission to advocate for the rights and well-being of those within the creative industry.
Over the weekend, a high-level ZICCO delegation, led by chief executive officer Tafadzwa Masembura and board chairman Tindo Chiraya, visited Moyo at Mpilo Hospital to offer financial, emotional, and moral support.
Thabiso, the founder and lead vocalist of the iconic groups Madewa and Abantwana BeNsindiso yamaNazareth, has been instrumental in Zimbabwe’s music industry.
Following the passing of Reverend Joel Maphosa in 2020, Thabiso took the reins of the group, producing three acclaimed albums, with a fourth on the way.
Her hospitalisation has been a challenging time for her family, but ZICCO’s intervention has brought much-needed relief.
During the visit, ZICCO CEO Masembura reaffirmed the organisation’s dedication to its members’ well-being.
“She was very ill, and we knew we had to act quickly. We managed to secure all the tests needed and cover the costs of her prescribed medication.
“She has undergone several tests, some of which required specialist attention and a lot of money. As ZICCO, we will stand by her and ensure she recovers fully. We are also here to provide emotional and moral support to her family during this challenging time,” Masembura said.
Board chairman Chiraya echoed these sentiments, offering comfort to Moyo and her family.
“Thabiso is not just a member of ZICCO; she is a family. Her contributions to the music industry and her community are immeasurable. We want her and the family to know that we are with them every step of the way. ZICCO will continue to support her until she makes a full recovery. This is our promise, and we are committed to keeping it,” Chiraya stated. Thabiso’s family expressed profound gratitude for ZICCO’s support.
“We are deeply thankful to ZICCO for coming to our aid. This has given us hope and relief during a very difficult time. Knowing that we are not alone in this journey means everything to us,” said a family member.
