ZIFA have appealed to all Premiership and Division One teams engaged in the promotion and relegation dogfights today and tomorrow to embrace Fifa’s tenets of Fair Play.A number of teams are fighting for Premiership survival while champions Dynamos and log leaders ZPC Kariba are entangled in the battle for the 2014 Castle Lager Premiership title.
There is also a tense fight between leaders Flame Lily and Gunners for promotion into the Premier League from the World Navi Northern Region Division One.
A number of teams from the same league also face the chop into Division Two.
“We are aware that there is a lot at stake for the teams in our affiliate leagues, namely the PSL and Division One Leagues, as they come to an end of their league programmes,” ZIFA said in a statement.
“ZIFA would, however, like to appeal to all the teams involved, the match officials and the administrators to exercise FIFA’s Play tenets and teams should win fairly and those that lose must do with grace and honour.
“We should at all times guard against match-fixing and match manipulation and ZIFA are on high alert for any indications of possible match-fixing.”
