Zifa happy with Hwange Stadium renovations

couple of weeks as we tried to spruce up our stadium.
“It has always been one of the best venues for soccer and other sports in the country. The facelift is just to take it to another level,” said Burzil Dube, the Hwange FC spokesperson.
A Zifa delegation was in Hwange on Saturday to inspect the stadium. They left the facility happy with the work done so far.
Hwange Colliery Limited, the sponsors of the Castle Lager Premiership team, are funding the refurbishments.
Work has primarily been on the turf.
“We put a layer of sand to have the playing surface even and to allow the grass to grow. It has filled almost the entire playing surface.
“Other work has been on ablution facilities for both players and fans. I am sure the dressing rooms and everything else within the stadium will be ready for use within two weeks which would give even the team time to train there ahead of the Jamhuri second leg of the preliminary tie,” said the colliery spokesperson.
Denis Tshuma, a member of the Zifa grounds committee, said he was happy with the progress made by the colliery.
“Hwange mean business on all fronts. I went to the stadium and I am happy with what I have seen so far. The facility will be ready and in the best of conditions when the visitors come,” said Tshuma.
Dube said while work goes on at the stadium, they would speak to neighbours Zesa Hwange FC so that they can use their Ingagula Township Stadium.
“We play Chicken Inn in a pre-season friendly next weekend. We will talk to ZPC so that we can use their stadium for our match against Chicken Inn. Our preparations are spot on and it will be all systems go within a fortnight at the stadium,” said Dube.
HCL managing director Fred Moyo praised his staff for good work at the stadium.
“It is still work in progress but what has been done so far is impressive,” said Moyo.
