DESPITE opening the sale of tickets for the crunch Warriors/ Congo Brazzaville match over a month ago, Zifa have remained mum on the actual number that has been sold for the Sunday match.

In spite of earlier assurances that the football association would be transparent in the sale of tickets for the Warriors’ last Africa Cup of Nations qualifier, Zifa spokesman Xolisani Gwesela made it clear to B-Metro Sport that no figures would be released to the public.

“We will not be releasing any figures in relation to the number of tickets that have been sold for the Warriors/ Congo Brazzaville game. That information will not be made public,” said Gwesela.

He was also non-committal when asked if the figures would be released after the match.

A total of 50 000 tickets, which is the carrying capacity for the National Sports Stadium are available with $10 for the rest of the ground, $50 for bay 15 to 18 with those wishing to occupy the VIP forking out $200.

For the first time Zifa introduced the sale of advance tickets for a Warriors match online.

No pay point for tickets will be available at the stadium on match day.

Zifa hired a Click & Pay, an online ticketing company, to sell tickets for the Warriors match.

But the decision to withhold information on the number of tickets that have been sold since the online ticketing system was opened will leave more questions than answers as to Zifa’s pledge for transparency in all its dealings.

Claims of revenue from ticket sales in past Warriors matches finding its way into some individuals’ pockets have dogged Zifa for years.

In a bid to break from the past and start on a clean slate, the Zifa leadership headed by Felton Kamambo pledged to be transparent in its business dealings.
