THE ZIFA Northern Region Division One League leadership will meet club representatives to review the first half of the season ahead of the resumption of the second half.

The meeting is set for Harare’s Cresta Oasis tomorrow morning. The region has taken a two-week break and will meet all the club representatives to discuss how to improve their league.

The league’s leaders are also expected to unveil a new sponsor. Northern Region secretary-general Sweeney Mushonga said they were looking forward to a successful meeting with all the 18-teams representatives.

“We had a short break and it is good for us to review the first half together. We are happy that discipline is improving since the introduction of fines,” he said.

“During the first half we only had two incidences which brought the name of the game into disrepute and we do not want that in the second half. “We believe in fair play and we will continue to remind and encourage both club executives and the supporters to shun hooliganism.’’

Blue Swallows supporters attacked a referee during their game against Herentals and the Karoi United and ZRP FC at Chikangwe match was abandoned. “We are making progress as a region and a team which came from the region is leading in the Premier League which shows us that we are doing well.

“We are also happy that one of our players managed to make it into the Warriors COSAFA team which went on to win the Cup. I think it shows how serious we are as a region,” said Mushonga.

ZIFA Northern Region Division One top goalscorer Blessing Majarira of Herentals was part of the triumphant Warriors squad and scored in South Africa.
