THE Zimbabwe Football Association (ZIFA) has established an Ad Hoc Committee of Inquiry to investigate the controversial withdrawal of Sheasham Football Club from the Zimbabwe Central Region Soccer League (ZCRSL).
The decision was announced following a meeting of the ZIFA Executive Committee held in Harare on Thursday.
This comes in the wake of recommendations made by the ZIFA Legal and Player Status Committee at its own session on Wednesday.
According to a statement released by the association, the committee is expected to look into the full circumstances surrounding Sheasham FC’s withdrawal and determine whether the club followed the proper channels and internal remedies available under ZIFA and ZCRSL statutes.
The committee will operate under a clear mandate, which includes: Investigating the circumstances that led to Sheasham FC’s exit from the league, Establishing whether all internal remedies were exhausted before the decision, Assessing the ZCRSL’s response to any formal complaints lodged by the club;
Submitting a written report with findings and recommendations to the ZIFA Executive Committee within seven working days of appointment.
In line with Article 55 of the ZIFA Statutes, the committee will consist of a Chairperson, who shall be a qualified legal practitioner, A Deputy Chairperson, who shall be a sports administrator, One member, who shall be a former referee.
The ZIFA Secretariat has been tasked with facilitating the appointment of committee members and ensuring all necessary administrative support for the smooth running of the inquiry.
