THE ZIFA Southern Region has set six strategic areas of focus for 2026 as it seeks to strengthen the administration and commercial viability of the league.

Addressing the regional assembly, the region’s chairman, Cris Mtungwazi said the league would prioritise securing structured corporate sponsorship and strategic partnerships.

He also highlighted the importance of embracing the digital space to improve the league’s operations.

“Enhancing digital communication and fixture management systems,” said Mtungwazi.

Governance and compliance were also identified as key priorities for the region.

“Strengthening governance, compliance and enforcement standards,” said Mtungwazi.

Mtungwazi added that there was also a need to improve match-day organisation and increase spectatorship at league matches.

He said the launch of a structured season-opening tournament aimed at stimulating commercial interest in the league would remain on the agenda.

Mtungwazi also spoke about development in two key areas.

“Expanding referee and administrator training programmes will be there.

“We thank the clubs for the mandate to lead the region for the next four years. Our focus is clear, elevate standards, improve organisation and align with national reforms,” said Mtungwazi.
