Dynamos with 55 points lead the log standings courtesy of goal difference over FC Platinum who have the same number of points. Both sides will wind their 2011 league programme with matches in the capital with Dynamos facing relegated Kiglon at Rufaro.
FC Platinum will be across town at Gwanzura for a date with another relegated side Shooting Stars.
And with both sides likely to win their matches, the title could be decided on goal difference.
On the bottom end of the 16-team table, the last of the relegation slots will also be decided with any of Shabanie Mine, Masvingo United and Monomotapa being decided at the close of business this afternoon.
Monoz and Masvingo who play Rufaro just need a draw to condemn Shabanie who host Highlanders at Maglas back to the Division One League.
The Central Region Division One championship will also be decided this weekend to fill in the final Premiership slot after Harare City, Buffaloes and Quelaton secured promotion from the Northern, Eastern and Southern Regions respectively. But Zifa, aware of the threat of underhand machinations to try and influence the outcomes of matches last issued a passionate appeal to all the clubs to exercise Fair Play in their contests.
Zifa President Cuthbert Dube also warned of stern action on any clubs that would have found to have brought the game into disrepute should they be convicted of winning or losing corruptly.
“The Zimbabwe Football Association as the custodians of Association Football, would like to appeal to all leagues affiliated to the Association, to ensure that FAIR PLAY is observed to the letter in the final home stretch of football matches. “The next two weekends are going to witness a dog fight as teams fight for either the championship titles or avoiding relegation. “Football is the world’s most beautiful game, whose credo should be religiously protected from the spectre of hooliganism, match fixing, illegal betting and acts of conduct bordering on corruption.
“The Association shall closely monitor the last games and should red flags be raised, the Association shall swiftly move in to protect the game of football. The Association has at its disposal statutes whose provisions can be invoked at the earliest possible call and the support of the law enforcement agents.
“The Association appeals to the fans to conduct themselves in a manner that does not bring football into disrepute. The Association wishes all clubs involved in the weekend games, the best of luck. May the game of football be the ultimate winner,” Dube said. Dube said to demonstrate their commitment to clean the game off any corrupt activities, he had been notified late yesterday that their disciplinary committee had docked Central Region title chasers Hardbody off 46 points for their part in corruptly registering players in a bid to win Premiership promotion.
Meanwhile the PSL yesterday also joined the Dynamos family in mourning the death of the Harare giants’ fans following a road accident on the Bulawayo, Zvishavane road last Sunday. PSL boss Twine Phiri said although at club level, they were DeMbare fans, the league noted that the three fans were part of the domestic football family. “Our condolences go to the families of the fans who perished in the accident and to Dynamos and may their dear souls rest in peace. As a league we are sorry for the loss of the football fans. “They may be Dynamos supporters but ultimately they are football fans who died while on a mission to add colour to our beautiful game,” Phiri said. The PSL chairman also said his league was also closely watching the last weekend action to ensure teams either win the championship or are relegated fairly.
