ZiG stability to help Bulawayo City Council rationalise rates – David Coltart

BULAWAYO Mayor Councillor David Coltart has said the Government’s introduction of the Zig currency is a game changer that has reined in inflation.

Bulawayo industrialists had raised issues to do with city council rates saying that they are very high which is affecting industry performance, at the Confederation of Zimbabwe Industries (CZI) annual general meeting in Bulawayo.

In his response Mayor Coltart said uncertainties in the economic environment have seen the city council increasing rates and bills as they were trying to cope with the inflation.

He said the coming in of ZiG has seen the country experiencing some stability, adding that if the Government continues with its strong monetary policy, the council will find a way to work on the rating situation.
