ZIMBABWE A will return to action next month with a demanding tour of Bangladesh that selectors hope will sharpen the country’s next generation of internationals ahead of a busy home season.
The tour features three one-day matches and two four-day fixtures against Bangladesh A, providing a valuable platform for fringe Chevrons players to stake their claim for higher honours.
Zimbabwe Cricket last week unveiled squads blending established internationals with emerging talent, underlining the importance of the assignment as the national side builds depth across formats.
Among the headline names are Ryan Burl, Innocent Kaia, Wessly Madhevere, Vincent Masekesa and Tadiwanashe Marumani.
Matthew Campbell, Antum Naqvi, Ernest Masuku, Michael Frost and Tarisai Musakanda have also been included.
Innocent Kaia, Roy Kaia, Marumani and Madhevere will feature in the one-day series before making way for Tanunurwa Makoni, Dion Myers, Munashe Chimusoro and Johnathan Campbell for the longer format matches.
A number of standout performers from the 2025/2026 domestic season were unavailable due to prior off-season commitments, including club cricket contracts in England.
The tour begins with the 50-over series.
The opening two matches will be played at Shaheed Chandu Stadium in Bogura on June 8 and June 10 before the final fixture at Rajshahi Divisional Stadium on June 13.
Attention then shifts to red-ball cricket, with both four-day matches scheduled for the Sylhet International Cricket Stadium.
The first runs from June 17 to 20, while the second will be played from June 24 to 27.
The tour also forms part of Zimbabwe’s preparations for Bangladesh’s visit later next month.
Bangladesh are scheduled to play Zimbabwe in a one-off Test, three One-Day Internationals and three T20 Internationals between June 28 and July 19.
The Test and ODI matches will be staged at the Harare Sports Club, while the T20 series will be played at the Queens Sports Club in Bulawayo.
Zimbabwe Chevrons head coach Justin Sammons believes the Bangladesh assignment comes at the right time for the players involved.
“Preparations started three weeks ago as we headed into a sort of pre-season camp with a large group of players, around 35 players, both A side and national side players,” said Sammons.
“The guys have put in a good shift and I’m really happy with how that progressed over the three weeks.
“Eight-team guys have been practising and will be heading off to Bangladesh.
“This is great because it gives them valuable experience and exposure as we continue our preparations for Bangladesh.”
