ZIMBABWE’S budding cricket stars will get an opportunity to gain international exposure when they face Canada later this month.

Zimbabwe A and Canada will engage in a three-match one-day series. This was announced by Zimbabwe Cricket this morning.

“Zimbabwe Cricket (ZC) is pleased to announce that Canada will be touring Zimbabwe for three one-day matches against Zimbabwe ‘A’ later this month.

“The 50-over series is scheduled to commence at Takashinga Cricket Club in Highfield on 26 February, before shifting to Harare Sports Club for the remaining two fixtures on 28 February and 1 March,” reads the ZC statement.

The North Americans are expected to arrive in Zimbabwe’s capital tomorrow.

Canada will play two warm-up matches against Zimbabwe Academy on February 20 and 23. ZC managing director Givemore Makoni emphasized the importance of international exposure across the age groups.

“We are excited to host Canada and anticipate a thrilling series against our Zimbabwe ‘A’ team.

“These matches provide an invaluable platform for our up-and-coming players to test themselves against strong opposition, which is essential for their growth and progression.”

ZC believes such matches are part of their strategy of creating more competitive matches for rising stars which helps in the strengthening of the player depth in the country. Entry will be free.
