Currently based in Namibia, Artwell Neusu whose stage name is Slickartie is raising the Zimbabwean flag high from a distance though music. The 27-year-old Afro Jazz artiste has seen a dazzling rise in the music industry, with a number of performances and collaborations with some of Namibia’s popular artistes such as Big Ben, Elemotho and Zenzo. Coming from Harare, Slickartie is currently studying at the College of The Arts in Windhoek and making music.“Leaving to study here in Namibia was a stepping stone for my art,” he said.
Slickartie used to be part of the Afro fusion band, Savannah Afros before he left to pursue his solo music career.
One of Slickartie’s biggest breakthrough in Namibia was a performance on “Night Under The Stars” last year although his recent is the Bergen Afro Arts Festival held in June this year in Norway where he was representing Namibia.
He hopes to release an album in 2017 although he is proud of his achievements even without an album.
“I have managed to tour the world without an album so it is a huge accomplishment.”
In Zimbabwe, he was a backing vocalist for Afro-Contemporary song bird, Pah Chihera in the 2013 before moving to Namibia.
