ZIMBABWEAN music and culture are set to shine in Europe this July as the Moto Moto Festival 2025 returns to Odonien, Cologne, Germany on July 19.

This event promises a dynamic line-up featuring some of the finest African and Diaspora talent, reaffirming its status as a premier platform for showcasing African creativity.

Now in its second year, the Moto Moto Festival has quickly gained recognition for its vibrant celebration of culture.

It blends traditional African rhythms with contemporary sounds and storytelling, offering a unique experience for attendees.

This year, the festival features an impressive array of artistes, each bringing their flair to the stage.

Among the headliners is Mokoomba, an internationally acclaimed band known for their energetic performances that weave together various musical influences.

Joining them is Feli Nandi, a soulful songstress whose emotive melodies resonate deeply with audiences.

The line-up also includes Probeatz, a hip hop artiste recognised for his sharp lyrics and engaging stage presence, alongside Wowrae, a genre-defying act that continuously pushes musical boundaries.

Fast-rising artiste Mary Anibal will also grace the stage, showcasing her unique sound.

In addition to these talented musicians, the festival welcomes Awa Khiwe, a Zimbabwean-German rapper celebrated for her fierce lyrics and commanding stage energy.

Another stand-out is Mwenje Mathole, whose captivating fusion of mbira and Afro-jazz has been enchanting audiences around the world.

A significant highlight of this year’s festival is the participation of Nisha Ts, the 2025 National Arts Merit Awards (NAMA) second place honouree in the “Outstanding Breakthrough Artist (Music)” category.

Nisha T steps in to replace Chillmaster, the original winner who was unable to travel due to unforeseen circumstances.

Her participation is fully funded by the National Arts Council of Zimbabwe (NACZ), reflecting a growing partnership between the NAMA platform and the Moto Moto Festival.

“This partnership is a milestone in promoting Zimbabwean talent on the international stage,” said a representative from the NACZ.

“We are proud to support Nisha Ts and ensure our artistes have access to global audiences.”

In addition to a stellar line-up of Zimbabwean acts, the festival will also feature performers from Germany, including DJ C:Mone, Albix, and Munashe Lorraine, a Zimbabwean-German vocalist.

DJs Blaze and Merciless Zim will contribute to the rich mix of Afro-diasporic sounds that characterise this year’s event.

For the first time, Moto Moto will introduce a Kids Zone, designed to engage younger attendees with creative workshops, games and activities.

This addition aims to make the festival a truly family-friendly experience, encouraging cultural appreciation from a young age.

According to festival curator Plot Mhako, the overarching goal of the Moto Moto Festival is to build an international platform that not only celebrates African talent but also creates sustainable pathways for its growth and global reach.

“Moto Moto is a bridge,” Mhako said.

“A space where African identity is celebrated, not just consumed.”

As excitement builds for what promises to be a day filled with high energy, connection, and cultural pride, the Moto Moto Festival 2025 is poised to leave a lasting impact on both performers and attendees alike.

This celebration of Zimbabwean and African culture in the heart of Europe underscores the festival’s commitment to fostering artistic expression and cultural exchange.
