Zim artistes to stage Independence gig in SA

Harare Bureau
ZIMBABWEANS in South Africa have organised an Independence gig that will see Zim dancehall artiste Seh Calaz sharing the stage with South Africa-based Zimbabwean artistes, Buffalo Souljah and Nox as well as Angola’s Cabo Snoop and Young Nucho among other artistes. The event being held at Cape Town City Hall will see diasporans celebrating the country’s 35 years of Independence on Saturday.

Organiser of the event, Taona Kandemiri, said all was set for the Independence gig.

“All is set for the Independence day celebrations and all performing artistes have confirmed their participation. We’re now just waiting for the big day,” Kandemiri said.

He said the country’s Independence means a lot to every Zimbabwean regardless of where they are based.

“Music brings people together, it unites the masses.” We’ll also be remembering Bob Marley who played a pivotal role during the liberation struggle through his music.

“His songs were the food that people in liberation movements, particularly the armed wings, were swallowing,” he said.
