Zim athlete impresses in USA

FORMER Nyasha Charandura Athletics Academy athlete Reinhard Ndlovu has started the American universities indoor track and field season on a high after posting the best 400 metre time among students. The Oral Roberts University business administration undergraduate, earned himself a Summit League Indoor Track and Field Athlete of the Week award last week. He was one of two athletes from the same institution to win with female runner Madison Reynolds earning her stripes.

He clocked 48,25 seconds in the 400m and split 47.03 seconds in the 4x400m relay.

Another Zimbabwean athlete Raphael Chihambakwe clocked 7.02 seconds in the 60m dash indoors.

Nyasha Charandura said he was happy with his former athlete’s good showing.

“He has continued to do well. As a club we are delighted and we hope he can continue to be an inspiration to other youngsters here. We wish him a successful indoor season which can translate to an even better year outdoors with the All-Africa Games and World Championships the main targets,” said Charandura in Bulawayo yesterday.
