Zim athletes shine at regional sports awards

ZIMBABWEAN athletes won big at Regional Annual Sports Awards (RASA) held in Luanda, Angola, on Saturday night.

Zander Botha was named Junior Sportsperson of the Year, while Simbarashe Mushayi scooped the Sportsman with Disabilities award.

The accolades highlight Zimbabwe’s growing sporting excellence on the regional stage.

At the same occasion, Deputy Minister of Sport, Recreation, Arts and Culture, Emily Jesaya received a special recognition award from the African Union Sports Council (AUSC) on behalf of Nicholas Munyonga during the Regional Annual Sports Awards in Luanda.

Chief Director in the Ministry of Sport, Recreation, Arts and Culture, Eugenia Chidhakwa, was honoured alongside Munyonga for their contribution to sport development. Zimpapers Sports Hub’s Langton Nyakwenda was also crowned Southern Africa Sports Journalist of the Year.

Nyakwenda, a multi-award winning journalist, was also recently honoured at the Annual National Sports Awards, among other awards he has won in the past.
